Beyond Niagara Falls, a stunning countryside awaits with many family-owned and –operated farms for u-pick opportunities year-round. But during the months of September and October, it’s prime time for apple varieties including Early Macs, Ginger Golds, Empires, and many others.
Here are five u-pick apple orchards and farms to check out in Niagara Falls USA:

1. Baker Farm Market & U-Pick
This three-generation, family-owned-and-operated farm offers more than just fresh fruit and vegetables. Browse a variety of salsa, jams, and fresh apple cider in the market, then head outdoors and stock up on pumpkins and colorful mums, too. Open daily.
2. Becker Farms & Vizcarra Vineyards
Expect all things fall fun at this 340-acre working fruit and vegetable farm. Tickets are required on weekends only and include a variety of items: parking, 4-quarts of apples, farm animal exhibits, live music, and more! Visit the on-site bakery for homemade pies and donuts, or visit the on-site brew pub for flights and small bites. Open daily.
3. Blackman Homestead Farm
Nestled on the Niagara Escarpment, this 165-year-old farm offers more than 15 varieties of apples to pick! Reservations are required Saturdays, Sundays, and Columbus Day Monday. Here you can also shop specialty products including natural fruit juices and fruit butters, as well as pumpkins, squash, and other local products. Open daily.
4. Sanger Farms & Bakery
Tour this fourth generation farm on foot, or via an old-fashioned hayride! Widely known for its peaches and apples, visitors can wander the orchards and hiking trails, shop homemade baked goods (the butter tarts are on-point!), and enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner at the on-site café. Open Wednesday to Sunday.
5. Smith’s Orchard Cider Mill
Operating for almost 50 years, visitors can enjoy a “no frills” apple picking experience in the orchards, or choose apples right from the bins. Visit the cider mill for fresh pressed cider, cider slushies, and freshly-baked cider donuts! Open weekends only.
