Maybe you’ll even get lucky enough to catch the Falls in all their frosted glory, or to take a moonlit stroll through the snow.

Here’s our take on the perfect romantic getaway this season.

Day 1: Dinner and a Show


It’s your time to unwind and leave it all behind, and there’s no better place to begin to do so than at the storybook-perfect Red Coach Inn. Snag a table next to the historic inn’s enormous Tudor-style fireplace, toast with a local glass of wine and gaze out the window at the roaring Niagara Rapids just beyond. When the filet mignon and cedar-plank salmon have been polished off, bundle up and stroll across the way to nearby Prospect Point, where you’ll witness Niagara Falls, New York’s nightly spectacle: the colorful illumination of all three Falls. For some extra romance, witness the winter fireworks displays on select dates, too!

Day 2: Falls Views and Snowshoes


It may be chilly out — even downright frightful — but the mighty Falls still beckon. Start your day with a hearty breakfast at local-favorite Marketside, and then grab to-go coffees and make your way to Niagara Falls State Park for unrivaled views and unlimited oohs and ahhs. You can catch a bird’s-eye view from the park’s Observation Tower, or head over to the Cave of the Winds for an altogether different perspective of the natural wonder: from its base! If there’s snow on the ground, borrow a pair of snowshoes from the Cave of the Winds Pavilion and continue your wintry exploration of the park.

Next, it’s time to get out of the cold. Head out into the quaint towns surrounding Niagara Falls for an afternoon of antiques-browsing (be sure to seek out the Old Chapel in North Tonawanda) and beverage-sipping (try grabbing a glass of wine at the cozy Webster’s Bistro & Bar). End the day with a meal at Remington Tavern & Seafood Exchange, housed in an old trolley barn on the historic Erie Canal.

Day 3: Wine & Dine


Wineries, boutiques, charming eateries: It’s time to head north to historic Lewiston. Spend the morning strolling the town, ducking into locally owned shops before departing for a day along the Niagara Wine Trail, USA. Start at Lewiston’s own Bella Rose, then plot your course along the trail with help from our wine touring tips. The evening ends with an intimate Italian meal at Carmelo’s Coat of Arms, a locavore’s dream.
