Plan the Perfect Romantic Getaway in Niagara Falls USA
From packing to checkout, we’ve got you covered. This three-day itinerary lays out the perfect Niagara Falls romantic getaway.
The original “Honeymoon Capital of the World,” Niagara Falls has an unmistakable romantic allure. Take in the majestic beauty of the Falls, unwind with a soothing spa date and savor a glass of locally produced wine, all in the same day. Here’s our foolproof itinerary for making the most of your romantic getaway in Niagara Falls.
Day 1
If you’re searching for romantic activities in Niagara Falls, look no further than Rainbow Air helicopter tours. These helicopter tours will take you lower and closer to Horseshoe Falls than any other tour, and will also spin you around all three Falls, the Rainbow Bridge, Goat Island, Cave of the Winds and more. Who knows? Maybe the magical setting will spark a proposal.
After the morning’s lofty views, get a closer look at the Falls with a classic boat ride. Take the elevator down from the Observation Tower (where you can pause for another expansive view over Niagara Gorge) to board the Maid of the Mist, operating since 1846, taking visitors right up to the base of American Falls and Horseshoe Falls. Disembark and make for the Cave of the Winds and get up close and personal with the thundering Bridal Veil Falls. Afterwards, rent a bike from Reddy Bikeshare and pedal around Goat Island. Situated between the Bridal Veil Falls and Horseshoe Falls, the island has several vantage points to take in the beauty of the Falls, and plenty of walking and bike trails.
In the evening, unwind at Wine on Third, a premier fine dining, tapas and wine bar. From a charcuterie board with fresh meats, cheeses and breads to brick oven pizza, sit back and enjoy a glass of wine while listening to the sweet sounds of local musicians.
Day 2
After an adrenaline-fueled day of exploring and hiking, ease into day two with an appointment at the spa. There are plenty of options in the area, including the Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino. Book the Spa Suite for a soak in the private couple’s jacuzzi before a Swedish or deep-tissue massage for two. Next, arrange for a car or limousine to take you on a tour of the Niagara wine region. With more than 20 wineries on the trail, sip your way from one charming, family-run spot to the next, and pick up a bottle from your favorite to relive the memories later. If you prefer beer over wine, hop to some of these breweries around Niagara County for a variety of pilsners, ales, sours, ciders and more.
Make dinner plans in scenic small-town Lockport — cozy up at Shamus for contemporary comfort fare, or hit the scene at New York Beer Project for a taste of (and a toast to!) the region.
Day 3
A short drive north takes you to the Castellani Art Museum, Niagara County’s only collecting museum. With more than 5,500 pieces of mostly modern and contemporary art, the collection includes prints, photographs, paintings, drawings and sculptures from names like Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali and many more.
Continue to the quaint Village of Lewiston for dinner at Carmelo’s. The ever-changing menu always features seasonal, fresh locally sourced dishes — many featuring house-made pasta or gnocchi — in an intimate dining room. Order a glass of house red and toast to your romantic Niagara Falls USA adventure. After dinner, head back to Niagara Falls State Park and witness the Falls illuminated in a rainbow of color for a romantic end to your visit.
