Get a Taste of Summer at These Roadside Foodie Gems
Summer brings more than great weather to Niagara Falls USA. During the season, a treasure trove of delicious roadside food stands pop up in Niagara County — here’s where to head to satisfy your cravings.
Jim & Paul’s Superdog
Niagara Falls
Situated next door to the Niagara Falls International Airport, Jim & Paul’s Superdog is a can’t-miss with its bright yellow awning and large menu of summertime favorites. Serving everything from burgers to hot dogs, and their famous fries topped with gravy, melted mozzarella, and even chicken fingers! Open daily.
Misty Dog Grill
Niagara Falls
Located right in the heart of downtown Niagara Falls, the famous Misty Dog Grill makes for the perfect pre or post-sightseeing food fix. The stand features a huge menu (think BLTs, hamburgers and mac-and-cheese) with some of the best bargains in the city. For dessert, Twist O’ The Mist, located right next door, won’t let you down for ice cream — in fact, the building is in the shape of a giant ice cream cone.
Brownie's Custard Stand
Wilson
Picture-perfect and super tasty, Brownie’s serves up big portions with a side of friendly service. The joint offers all your fast-food faves from burgers to chicken fingers, but its soft-serve ice cream is arguably its greatest treat. Enjoy your cone on one of the Instagram-worthy outdoor picnic benches.
Reid’s Drive-in
Lockport
For over 70 years, this nostalgic drive-in in downtown Lockport has been serving up sandwiches, dogs and fries to loyal locals and visiting tourists, always offering some of the best deals in town. Save room for one of their irresistible pineapple or black cherry shakes.
The Silo
Lewiston
Every vacationer loves a quirky food-stop and The Silo in Lewiston is hard to beat for a side of character and unique history — the silo originally stored coal, allowing boats to stop and fuel up. Along with its panoramic restaurant, its roadside caboose dishes up stop-you-in-your-tracks ice cream. Love a foodie challenge? Finish their gallon sundae and you’ll receive a t-shirt for bragging rights.
Wagner's Farm Market and Grill
Sanborn
This old-school farm market is the perfect pit stop to pick up some fresh groceries and baked goods for a summer picnic. Or, opt to sit and stay a while with tasty items from the robust menu, including soups, salads, sandwiches, gyros, and even fish frys! Don't forget a classic banana split or slice of pie for dessert.
Hibbard’s Original Frozen Custard
Lewiston
Owned and operated by the Hibbard Family since 1939, this Lewiston landmark is still serving the same 80-year-old recipe dreamed up by Harold Hibbard way back when — and is still made by a Western New York creamery. Expect a rotating menu of flavors like lemon cheesecake, butter almond and “coconut obsession,” and make sure to sample their new flavor collaboration with big-time Hibbard fans the Barenaked Ladies: a coffee custard called the “Big Barenaked Bang,” available this summer.
