From classic Polish favorites to quinoa bowls and everything in between, there’s something for every appetite here.
1. El Cubilete
Sit down at family-owned El Cubilete in Niagara Falls and almost immediately the basket of freshly made tortilla chips with a side of roasted tomato salsa arrives in front of you. Pick from more than 10 lunch special platters all priced under $6.50, including enchiladas or burritos with a side of rice and beans. If it’s brunch you’re after, you’ll find delectable huevos rancheros and huevos con chorizo, too.
2. Frenchy’s Restaurant & Pizzeria
It’s all about the square piece (as opposed to the usual triangular slice) at this local favorite. With options ranging from the cheese-laden pepperoni to the inventive Greek slice that riffs on the classic Greek salad, there’s plenty to choose from. And if you want a little something extra with your pie, check out the eatery’s beloved chicken wings.
3. Reid’s Drive-In
With red-white-and-blue awnings, it’s no mystery what this locals-favorite drive-thru is serving up: hot dogs with all the fixings, classic diner burgers and a wide variety of milkshakes — all for $3.50 or less. Stop to eat outside when the weather is warm enough for a full dose of nostalgia.
4. The Spicey Pickle
Yes, there are definitely spicy pickles to be had at this Lewiston eatery, but the real star of the show is the burritos with fillings that include house-smoked pork, shredded beef or chicken. Add on cilantro-lime brown rice, sour cream, cheese, guacamole and more. For a slightly lighter lunch, order a steaming bowl of tortilla soup with roasted chicken.
5. Di Camillo Bakery
For almost 100 years (99 to be exact!), generations of the Di Camillo family have been making fresh baked goods daily for the Niagara Falls community. Stop by one of their four locations for their famous pizza, or get a sandwich on their freshly baked Italian Scaletta bread. And of course, the dessert is always worth saving room for!
6. Orange Cat Coffee Co.
Located on Center Street in idyllic Lewiston, this is the perfect stop for a quick caffeine pick-me-up — think seasonal coffees like almond cookie and maple bourbon. Pair your drink with a vegan-friendly veggie wrap or cranberry walnut muffin to fuel up before exploring the quaint village.
7. Gadawski’s
This Polish standby may only be open for lunch Tuesday through Friday, but they make up for it with all the classics you could want from pierogis to polish-sausage sandwiches. If you aren’t familiar with Polish cuisine, expect hearty meat-and-potatoes meals here.
8. Hoover’s
Located in Sanborn, Hoover’s is famous for its delicious ice cream and old-fashioned milkshakes. However, they also have an extensive food menu that’s virtually all under $10! Think hot dogs, sandwiches, wraps, and even specialty burgers like bacon crumbly bleu and philly cheese.
9. Scripts Cafe
Looking for something on the healthier side? At this eatery in Lockport’s Theater District, you can choose from veggie-laden quinoa bowls, unique salads and wraps with ingredients like grilled chicken and avocado. For pickier eaters, you can customize your own sandwiches from their lengthy list of options.
10. La Galera Mexican Restaurant
With almost 25 options on offer, it wouldn’t be a stretch to say that this rainbow-hued dining room has one of the most extensive lunch specials menus in town. Whether you’re in the mood for chiles rellenos, enchiladas verdes, flautas, or chimichangas, you may find yourself having a hard time deciding what to order!
