Niagara Falls USA Hosts City-Wide Convention
Public Employees Federation returning for the first time since 2014
Niagara Falls, NY — Destination Niagara USA and the Conference & Event Center of Niagara Falls welcome the 43rd Annual Public Employees Federation (PEF) Conference taking place Sunday, October 24th through Wednesday, October 27th.
Since 1979, PEF has been certified as the collective bargaining agent for the members of the Professional, Scientific, and Technical units of New York State. Today, they represent more than 50,000 workers in job titles including nurses, accountants, engineers and hundreds more.
Over 800 attendees began arriving in Niagara Falls this past weekend and are staying at four host hotels in the immediate downtown area. The meetings and sessions of the conference are taking place at multiple event spaces including the Conference & Event Center of Niagara Falls, and the bulk of attendees will be on their own for the majority of meals. All downtown businesses have been made aware of the conference in order to plan accordingly to welcome attendees. The estimated economic impact for this event is approximately $1.3 million.
John Percy, President & CEO of Destination Niagara USA said, “We are thrilled to welcome PEF to Niagara Falls USA. Attracting an event that is large enough to benefit multiple hotel properties as well as other local businesses is a true testament to the growth and development of our destination. We will continue to work with our local partners to attract conferences and events of this magnitude that contribute so substantially to the local economy.”
"Niagara Falls continues to be the draw for so many conferences coming to Western New York," said City of Niagara Falls Mayor Robert Restaino. "We are excited to host this year’s PEF conference and welcome them to our Wonder of the World.”
The Public Employees Federation also plans to return to Niagara Falls USA in the fall of 2022.
